![]() Thursday, September 15, 2011 Do you actively use Twitter to promote your business? Do you use it as an advertising medium, or do you use it to connect with customers? How about a way to promote your business' website? If you are someone who believes that social media like Twitter is important to your site, this might be your lucky day. How much do you rely on Twitter to promote your business? Let us know in the comments. Twitter has (finally) launched their very own Web Analytics Tool. Here's what this tool will allow you to monitor, according to the Twitter developers blog - The product provides three key benefits: • Understand how much your website content is being shared across the Twitter network • See the amount of traffic Twitter sends to your site • Measure the effectiveness of your Tweet Button integration Along with those functions, users will also be able to see you most-shared links for the day, week or month using the criteria of containing tweets or clicks. The reason that this is such big news revolves around the previously rocky relationship between Twitter and Analytics. Separate analytics dashboards like Google analytics and others have had a hard time in the past accurately showing how much traffic Twitter is bringing to your website. The reason for this is that Twitter's API is in use by so many third-party apps and other social sites, that sometimes referrals don't actually show up as being from Twitter.com. Sometimes, other URLs and other social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn end up taking the credit for Twitter referrals. In June, Twitter began bundling links with a special t.co URL, which has helped the situation. But this new Twitter analytics tool aims to truly show webmasters how much Twitter is helping their pages. This week, the tool is being tested by a small group of people. In the next few weeks, it will become available for everyone. Will you use the new Twitter Analytics Tool? Let us know in the comments.
